“Nikola Tesla – The Man Who Lit up the World”
2023-11-03
Energy and Technology Museum, in cooperation with the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla in Zagreb and the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Lithuania, presents the international exhibition “Nikola Tesla – The Man Who Lit up the World”. It will be exhibited in the museum’s Steam Condenser and Transformation Halls until December 3rd. The official presentation of the exhibition with its organizers, representatives of the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla and the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia, will take place on October 10th in the Energy and Technology Museum in Vilnius.
About the exhibition
“The progressive development of man is vitally dependent on invention. It is the most important product of his creative brain. Its ultimate purpose is the complete mastery of mind over the material world, the harnessing of the forces of nature to human needs. This is the difficult task of the inventor who is often misunderstood and unrewarded. But he finds ample compensation in the pleasing exercises of his powers and in the knowledge of being one of that exceptionally privileged class without whom the race would have long ago perished in the bitter struggle against pitiless elements.”
Nikola Tesla
(Smilian, Croatia, 1856 – New York, USA, 1943)
The exhibition “Nikola Tesla – The Man Who Lit up the World” consists of a historical story about N. Tesla’s personality, life from youth to great inventions and death, two interactive exhibits (Tesla coil and the copper egg experiment) and video works. They are exhibited in the Steam Condenser Hall, at the entrances of the Transformation Hall.
The second part of the exhibition continues in the Transformation Hall, the museum’s new exposition on energy transformations, where, in addition to two dozen interactive exhibits, three Tesla coils are presented – Tesla’s invention that allowed the transmission of electricity without wires.
The Energy and Technology Museum is sincerely thankful to the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia and the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla for the opportunity to present this exhibition in Vilnius, as well as to acquaint museum visitors with the life and technical work of the genius inventor.
