Science experiments

2024-03-16 - 2024-03-17

Immerse yourself in the world of science with ETM science experiments! Every weekend at Newton and Curie Workshops we are hosting exciting science experiments for the whole family.

At the Workshop named after physicist, mathematician and astronomer Isaac Newton:

You will learn about the types of energy and Newton‘s laws;

Fire or lightning, which are normally dangerous to humans, are tested safely in this experiment – through by passing an electric current through the body or by lighting butane gas on the palm of the hand;

We create a firestorm. In nature, a tornado is created when two air currents collide. We also reproduce the conditions for its formation in a scientific test;

The kinetic and potential energy in the workshop is illustrated by a pendulum hanging from the ceiling – when the hammer glows, we talk about frictional force and air resistance – energy loss.

For anyone interested in the chemical elements, we invite you to visit the Curie Workshop. Here you will learn how different types of chemical elements work:

Liquid nitrogen – at 196 degrees Celsius, nitrogen can freeze any substance containing water – flower, fruit or berry. Adding nitrogen to a boiling water can cause a temperature difference, a thick cloud of nitrogen gas is formed.

Acids and bases reactions – mixing household chemicals with foil produces heat and hydrogen gas. We’ll watch as this gas, which is the most abundant gas in the Universe, inflates the balloon and the heat causes it to rise into the air.

Elephant toothpaste – why the concentration of substances matters and how to calculate, instead of soap for humans, can you make toothpaste for elephants?

Non-Newtonian liquid – both solid and liquid: how to make Non-Newtonian liquid easily at home?

Colour magic – what vitamin will make iodine… colourless? And how can you turn it into a dark colour, like it was before? All this and more at the Energy and Technology Museum.

Science experiments take place at weekends: 10.30 AM, 12.30 PM, 2.30 PM, 4.30 PM, 5.30 PM

Participation of children (up to 12 years) – with adult supervision.

The duration of the lesson is 40 minutes.
Price – visitor’s ticket + 2 Eur.
