“Vilniaus Energija: Electric Shock!” – A Special ETM Birthday

Vilnius citizens and city guests are invited to the 121st birthday celebration of the power plant, now – Energy and Technology Museum!

On February 14th, we are celebrating the 21st birthday of the museum and the 121st birthday of the old Vilnius Power Plant with a lot of interactive activities, events and guided tours. ETM’s professional educational guides will share unheard stories about Vilnius, show you the inventions of Renaissance genius Leonardo da Vinci and reproductions of his works of art.

Join Dr. Marija Drėmaitė, cultural historian, professor at the Faculty of History of Vilnius University, researcher at the (Post)Authoritarian Landscapes Research Centre, and explore the unique world of industrial heritage. Drėmaitė’s lecture will focus on the latest trends in industrial heritage research, methods of inheritance and communication in museums. It will look at the concept and problems of industrial heritage in Lithuania, trends in inheritance and people’s relationship with industrial memory.

The evening will be rounded off with a tasting dinner and a unique “Vilniaus Energija: Electric Shock!” – concert by the band “Vilniaus Energija” (Žygimantas Kudirka and Adas Gecevičius), during which they will play live with lightning bolts of thousands of volts in the newest space of the museum, the Transformation Hall.
