Museums are not sleeping this Saturday – Museum Night is approaching, an annual event launched by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to showcase exhibits at night, when museums are normally closed.
On Museum Night, May 14th, from 6:30 PM to 10 PM, ETM will invite residents and guests of the capital to visit for free and get acquainted with the secrets and authentic equipment of the first public power plant in Vilnius.
Visitors will be greeted by huge steam boilers and turbines reminiscent of the history of the Vilnius power plant, and in the basement, Steam Condenser Hall, which does not contain any light, we will wander through an impressive maze of pipelines.
There are two exhibitions for fans of culture – painter Aidas Mikelėnas’ “Canvas in the City” with images of Chicago is open in the Steam Condenser Hall. Petras Lincevičius’ exhibition “Counting Time in Pink Sand” welcomes in Boiler Hall and Industry Exposition. The author emphasizes the theme of time and the (un) significance of local identity in the global world.
Visit the power plant at night!
