The exhibition “Salve, Vilnius’DCC” in the Boiler Hall and roof terrace of the Energy and Technology Museum, dedicated to the 700th anniversary of Vilnius, was complemented by children’s creativity. Like two dozen professional artists, the young creators were given the task of creating round-shaped works. This is a hint to the winding streets of the Old Town and sleek details of the old architecture of Vilnius.
This part of the exhibition is intended to unite Vilnius children’s and youth clubs, employees and children, while creating works to commemorate the significant anniversary of Vilnius. The exhibition was organized by Ričardas Zdanavičius, the art teacher of the Vilnius Children and Youth Club “Kregždutė”, the creator and curator of the “Salve Vilnius’DCC” project.
The exhibition exhibits the educational works of Vilnius children and youth clubs “Klevas”, “Kregždutė”, “Verdenė” and “Lakštingala”. The exhibition is exhibited in the Energy and Technology Museum, the other part of the exhibition is shown in the Vilnius children and youth club “Kregždutė” (Šiaulių St. 8, Vilnius). A total of 62 young creators participate in the exhibitions.
The organizers of the exhibition hope that these works will allow the young generation to artistically reflect on their relationship with Vilnius, to establish a kind of dialogue with the city. Participation in the exhibition is a unique opportunity for children to express themselves in their creative language and actualize the stories of Vilnius, to give meaning to their identity as Vilnius residents.
